Making History: The Victoria Theatre

On New Year’s Day in 1866, the curtain rose for the first time at the Turner Opera House. Located at the corners of First and Main streets in downtown Dayton, the theater would endure two fires and survive the Great Dayton Flood of 1913. Through its doors, Dayton sat in awe of stars from motion pictures, plays and Broadway along with a wellspring of community members eager to take their place among the famous. The theatre’s life was almost cut short in the 1970s but a group of young, energetic kids, who didn’t want to lose the last theatre downtown, “Saved the Victory!”
Making History: The Victoria Theatre is a 30 minute documentary produced by ThinkTV in honor of the Dayton landmark’s 150th anniversary.
The documentary will have its broadcast premiere in back-to-back presentations, Monday, February 13 at 9 and 9:30pm on ThinkTV16.
