Interested in independent films without the three-hour runtime? Film School Shorts, an independent film program out of KQED, showcases short student films from across the country. The KQED team screens thousands of films each year to find unique voices from student filmmakers and films that are well-crafted with high production values, strong dialogue and riveting storylines.

Series producer Julia Shackelford curates a handful of 20-30 films that with a goal of bringing new perspectives, heart-wrenching stories and endearing characters to audiences around the globe. Films can be everything from dramas to rom-coms.

Although ThinkTV and CET don’t air the Film School Shorts half-hour weekly program, viewers can stream the videos online at There are currently 66 films available to stream.
