New Fleetwood Mac Special Features Songs from “Rumours”
Whether or not you are a Fleetwood Mac fan, there’s no denying the impact of their music, especially the album Rumours. And we are excited to present a new special – Fleetwood Mac: The Dance – that features the greatest hits from Rumours. The broadcast of this intimate concert, recorded in 1997, features Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, John McVie and Stevie Nicks on songs like “Don’t Stop”, “Go Your Own Way”, “The Chain” and more.
After forming as a band in the late ‘60s, Fleetwood Mac evolved into one of the most influential rock groups of the ‘70s. They ruled the charts with some of the decade’s most incredible songs and released one of the best-selling albums of all time, 1977’s Rumours. The drama that led up to the creation of Rumours is almost as well known as the album itself. As the album was being made Stevie Nicks had just split from her longtime lover Lindsey Buckingham, as Christine McVie was in the midst of divorcing her husband John McVie (Fleetwood Mac’s bassist). While that was occurring, Mick Fleetwood’s marriage was on the rocks which lead to an affair with Nicks before the year was over. What emerged from all the drama was brutally honest lyrics and the romantic confessional that is known as Rumours.
Rumours has not only become of the best-selling albums of all time (selling 45 million records worldwide) but one of the most influential. It has been ranked by Rolling Stones as the 25th greatest album of all time and has been ranked highly by other media publications as well. Rumours has gone into influence acts like Elton John, Jewel, The Goo Goo Dolls, Florence + The Machine, Lady Gaga, and Lorde.
