PBS Kids Writers & Illustrators Contest
What makes a truly great story? Whether you’re writing for toddlers or adults, it usually comes down to unforgettable characters, exciting plots and, in some cases, expressive illustrations. We brought back the PBS Kids Writers & Illustrators Contest again this year to give children in our community the opportunity to build critical literacy skills by creating their own stories.
Children in Kindergarten through third grade within our viewing area are eligible for the contest. The deadline to send in a story is January 12, 2018.
Each entrant will receive a certificate, a children’s book and an invitation to a reception at the Main Branch of the Dayton Metro Library in Dayton or the Main Branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in Cincinnati. First, second and third place winners in each grade level will also receive a digitized version of their story shared on thinktv.org, a bound collection of all winning stories and a gift certificate to a local bookstore.
Learn more about the contest, see all the rules for the 2017-2018 contest and explore the winning entries from the last couple of years online at either www.thinktv.org/writerscontest/ or www.CETconnect.org/writerscontest.
