PMC's Education Efforts Take Production Team to the Aquarium

Posted by Kellie May on

As part of our regional Public Media Connect education efforts throughout Southwest Ohio, ThinkTV is working with Jenny Montgomery, an art teacher at the Dayton Regional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) School. Jenny is at the forefront of STEAM (STEM + Art) and she’s working with biology classes and multimedia classes at the Dayton Regional STEM School to create instructional resources for younger children who visit the Newport Aquarium.

The project is actually part of a partnership between the STEM School and the WAVE Foundation, the charitable arm of the Newport Aquarium. In addition to being involved in the creation of these videos and resources, ThinkTV plans to document the project and discuss this new problem-based-learning model as applied to STEM if additional funding becomes available.

This project is still in the early stages, but we thought you all might like to see some photos and a quick behind-the-scenes video of some adorable penguins. During the video, listen closely to hear biologist Dan Clady explain why penguins sneeze!
