Posted by Kellie May on

Sherlockians rejoice! Although filming for season four of Sherlock is not yet underway, we’re excited to bring you a 90-minute stand-alone Sherlock special – The Abominable Bride – on New Year’s Day. This new special, set in the 1890s, will premiere simultaneously on ThinkTV16, CET, BBC and online at http://pbs.org/masterepiece at 9pm Friday, Jan. 1. This is the first time Sherlock has premiered in the US and the UK on the same day.

Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the acclaimed modern retelling of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic stories. But now our heroes find themselves in 1890s London. Beloved characters Mary Morstan (played by Amanda Abbington), Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) and Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) also turn up at 221b Baker Street.

Season four of Sherlock is set to go into production in Spring 2016. An airdate has not yet been announced.
