Spring 2019 Membership Drive Highlights

From the pop-star Prince’s Rave U2 the Year 2000 concert to the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2, this June’s membership drive is packed with a wide variety of programming. Here are some of the highlights:


America’s Home Cooking: Stuffed

All around the world and for generations, people have enjoyed the universal food experience of stuffing little balls of dough with a variety of fillings, from ravioli and dumplings, to pierogies and empanadas. In this special, host and chef Chris Fennimore explores this concept of stuffed foods that crosses borders and culinary traditions, and shows how to prepare some of these classic comfort foods at home.

Josh Groban Bridges: In Concert from Madison Square Garden

Filmed at New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 18, 2018, this new concert features international superstar Josh Groban performing songs from his much-praised recent album Bridges, as well as a selection of classic songs and fan favorites from the last 20 years. Joining him on stage as special guests are Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel and Grammy Award-winner Jennifer Nettles, along with a choir and orchestra.

From country pop favorites to folk-rock epics, "Story Songs" relate to all of our lives. Story Songs is hosted by five time Grammy Award-winning singer B.J. Thomas and features performances by Don McLean, Bobbie Gentry, Glen Campbell and more.

The Doobie Brothers: Live at the Beacon Theatre

In November 2018, The Doobie Brothers returned to the Beacon Theatre for the first time in 25 years to perform two of their landmark albums, Toulouse Street and The Captain And Me. This historic performance at the Beacon offered an opportunity for Doobie fans to hear deep cuts and songs never-before performed live by the band, such as “Mamaloi,” “O’Connelly Corners,” “Ukiah,” and “The Captain And Me.”


Stonewall Uprising: American Experience

When police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in Greenwich Village in New York City on June 28, 1969, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for days. The Stonewall riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world. Join June 8th to learn more about this impactful moment in history.

Rave Un2 the Year 2000 showcases Prince’s legendary musical talent and peerless showmanship as he guided fans from one millennium to another. Recorded at Paisley Park Studios, this dazzling show features performances of his timeless hits like “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Kiss” and “Purple Rain”. Also enjoy the wonderful tunes of bassist Larry Graham of Sly & The Family Stone, plus guest appearances by New Power Generation vocalist Rosie Gaines and Maceo Parker, long-time saxophonist for James Brown.


Downton Abbey Returns!

Downton Abbey Returns! features new interviews with the cast of the series, writer/creator Julian Fellowes and executive producer Gareth Neame, video clips of emotional moments from all six seasons and exclusive sneak peaks from the upcoming movie, Downton Abbey,  based on the PBS hit series throughout the program. The program will be hosted by Jim Carter, who portrayed the Crawley family’s much-loved butler Mr. Carson.


Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2

This concert was recorded in 2010, 25 years after the original British premiere, and premiered in 2011. With more than 500 actors and musicians — including Alfie Boe, Jenny Galloway, Katie Hall, Nick Jonas, Norm Lewis, Matt Lucas, Lea Salonga, Samantha Barks and Ramin Karimloo — Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Concert at The O2 includes the October 2010 cast of the long-running Original Production at London’s Queen’s Theatre and members of the original 1985 London cast, including Colm Wilkinson, and was produced by Cameron Mackintosh.
