Discover the history of the nuclear bomb and unlock the mystery of Uranium in two new programs premiering on CET and ThinkTV16.  The Bomb and Uranium: Twisting the Dragon’sTail will be broadcast back-to-back on Tuesday, July 28 beginning at 8pm with The Bomb, followed by Uranium: Twisting the Dragon’s Tail at 10pm.

Broadcast of The Bomb commemorates the 70th anniversary of the detonation of the atomic bomb. The program highlights how humans harnessed this incredible power and what challenges we have faced living with it for 70 years. Rare footage from bomb tests through the 1950 and 60s demonstrate the power and strangely compelling beauty of nuclear explosions.  The film focuses on the choices society has made – and continues to make – to live with an invention that could destroy the planet.

In Uranium – Twisting the Dragon’s Tail, host and physicist Dr. Derek Muller unlocks the mysteries of uranium, one of the Earth’s most controversial elements. Dr. Muller embarks on an epic journey across the globe to explain the fascinating details of uranium’s birth and life. Born from the collapse of a star, uranium has brought hope, progress and destruction. It has revolutionized society, from medicine to warfare. It is an element that has profoundly shaped the past, will change the future.
