WORKSHOP SCHEDULE FOR CHILD CARE PROVIDERS 2015-2016

Our Mission is to empower and engage child care providers by providing top-notch training with hands-on activities and developmentally appropriate resources to better the lives of children and families in our area. Providers will have the materials and ideas to put into practice current child development theories. Handouts include picture books, resource books, and educational materials. Let's Get WILD: Engaging Children Through Nature – 3 Hours
Use Growing Up Wild curriculum and PBS resources to engage children in science, math, literacy, music and movement. Learn while having hands-on fun. Topics and resources include: camouflage, life cycles, spiders, ants, computer games, video, hands-on fun and activities.  

PLANTING THE SEEDS FOR PRE-K STEM EDUCATION: USING HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES AND TECHNOLOGY – 4 Hours
Training children to think requires specific steps and practice. Have fun while you practice games and simple ways to teach children how to classify, put steps in order, and think logically. Learning about thinking skills will be fun and interesting without a lot of work on your part. Aligned with Ohio Early Learning Development Standards, CORE and child development concepts. Pizza lunch included.

MAKE READING IRRESISTIBLE: HANDS-ON FUN WITH LITERACY IN PRESCHOOL – 2 Hours
Children learn best though hands-on activities. Learn about studies that support this idea and ways to inform parents. Included are specific hands-on ideas to teach children letter recognition, letter/sound relationships, rhyming words, and building vocabulary.

SENSORY SCIENCE FUN: EXPLORING MATTER – 2 Hours
Using a variety of teaching strategies and Ohio’s Early Learning & Development Standards as a guide, this workshop will focus on helping participants understand how to support the development of young children’s scientific inquiry skills as they explore the different states of matter through their senses.

OUT OF THIS WORLD SCIENCE – 2 Hours
This workshop will focus on supporting scientific inquiry skills in young children as they explore familiar elements in nature such as the sun and moon, night and day, and light and shadow.

WILD ABOUT EXPLORING OUR LIVING WORLD – 2 Hours
This workshop will focus on supporting scientific inquiry skills in young children as they explore the physical characteristics and behaviors of living things.

Important Note:

**Ohio Approved is the new Step Up Approved. It includes all Step Up requirements as well as Ohio Dept. of Education requirements. As of July 1, 2017, all providers needing to fulfill Step Up requirements for Star rating will need to get Ohio Approved hours.

How do I schedule a station tour for my classroom?

We conduct station tours Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm.  If you would like to set up a station tour or request a special tour date or time please call (937) 220-1708 or email: dthevenin@thinktv.org.
